Laura is a professional violinist who graduated from the Royal College of Music in London with a Master of Music degree with distinction. She previously studied at the Royal Northern College of Music, and graduated with a First-Class BMus honours degree. She has studied with world-class professors, including Professor Benedict Holland, Gabrielle Lester, Detlef Hahn and Lyn Fletcher.

 

As a soloist, Laura was a finalist in the RNCM Norman George Scholarship competition, in 2018 and 2016. In the North London Festival, she was a Prizewinner in the 2018 D’Addario String Competition, and runner-up in her violin recital category, 2019. Solo performances with orchestra include Mozart’s Violin Concerto No.5, Bach’s Concerto for Two Violins, and Beethoven’s Romance in F. Laura has been selected for masterclasses with Yair Kless, Elena Urioste, Mauricio Fuks, Frederieke Saeijs and Ning Feng. Laura was supported throughout her studies at the RCM with postgraduate awards from Help Musicians UK, and was selected for the RCM Musicians’ Grant Award in 2021.

 

Awarded a Cambridge University Instrumental Award Scheme Scholarship for chamber music, her piano trios have performed nationwide. Her violin and piano duos have represented the RCM in chamber music concerts throughout London. She has been selected for RNCM Spotlight concerts and recital series as both a soloist and chamber musician, performing virtuosic works such as Ysaÿe Sonata No.3 and Ravel’s Duo Sonata for violin and cello. She performs regularly as a recitalist across the country.

Laura performs as a freelance orchestral player with the Hallé Orchestra. Whilst at the RCM, she attained a place on the prestigious BBC Symphony Orchestra pathway. She has held appointments as leader of the RCM New Perspectives Orchestra, RNCM First Year String Orchestra, and RNCM Strings Festival Dove Orchestra, and co-leader of the RCM and RNCM Symphony Orchestras and Cambridge University Musical Society Symphony Orchestra. As part of her orchestral experience, Laura has been privileged to work with esteemed conductors including Sir Mark Elder and Jac van Steen.
